Energy consumption winter Follow
What is the average electricity consumption for my home?
The Irish national average electricity consumption is 5,300 kWh per annum. This figure is based on estimated average usage for a 3-bedroom house.
If you live in house of this size, you now know that the national average is probably quite close to your actual consumption, give or take a few kWhs.
If your house has an electric shower that’s in constant use for example, your electricity usage might be slightly higher than average. Similarly, if you have a NightSaver meter and high-quality lagging jacket, your consumption is probably a bit below the national average.
But what if you live in a 4- or 5-bedroom house? Or a 1-bedroom studio apartment? Your electricity consumption is going to be some way off the 3-bedroom national average estimate of 5,300 kWh.
Not to worry! We’ve put together a handy table of average consumption estimates for homes of many sizes to help you better understand how much electricity you use in a given year.
